Byron shire has a sub-tropical climate, a rich-farming history and is the ideal location to grow bamboo suitable for bamboo massage. The high rainfall and red volcanic soil makes bamboo farming easier than in mostparts of the world. Up to 20 million years ago, ancient volcanic activity created the second largest shield volcano in the world, stretching from Mount Tamborine in the north down to Byron Bay in the south. Byron Bay's first industry was timber growing and is world renowned for the quality of it's agricultural produce. Today, much of the area is Heritage-listed park, however pockets of land are still farmed, thus we are able to produce the best quality bamboo suitable for massage.
